Job Title: Facilities Director
Location: The Commodore Club, Wrightsville Beach, NC (6 Marina Street, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480)
Reports To: Member Relations Director
Job Type: Part-Time [25-30 hours]
Compensation: [Base Salary] + Performance Bonuses + Club Benefits
Job Summary:
The Facilities Director oversees the maintenance, safety, and operational functionality of all physical aspects of the floating restaurant, including vessel systems, mechanical operations, dock infrastructure, and facility support systems. This role ensures the seamless integration of maritime safety with hospitality standards, maintaining compliance with marine and health codes while providing a safe and exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the maintenance and operation of the vessel’s critical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, waste management, fuel, and bilge systems.
Coordinate and supervise all repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance for the restaurant’s interior and exterior structures.
Ensure compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations, maritime safety standards, and local health/fire department codes.
Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, marine service providers, and regulatory agencies.
Conduct regular safety inspections and drills; maintain records of safety and regulatory compliance.
Lead emergency preparedness planning, including flood, fire, and evacuation protocols.
Collaborate with the culinary and hospitality teams to ensure uninterrupted service and comfortable guest environments.
Oversee dockside utilities and gangway safety for staff and patrons.
Develop and manage the facilities maintenance budget and capital improvement projects.
Hire, train, and supervise a facilities and maintenance crew.
Qualifications:
5+ years of facilities or marine operations management experience; hospitality or restaurant industry experience a plus.
Strong knowledge of marine systems, maritime safety protocols, and vessel maintenance.
Familiarity with local building codes, OSHA standards, and Coast Guard regulations.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and operational manuals.
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
U.S. Coast Guard credentials or marine engineering certifications preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed on a docked and/or floating structure, which may involve exposure to variable weather and water conditions. Physical demands include climbing, lifting, bending, and prolonged standing or walking. On-call availability for emergencies and urgent repairs.
