Job Title: Member Relations Director
Location: The Commodore Club, Wrightsville Beach, NC (6 Marina Street, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480)
Reports To: Board of Directors / Commodore
Job Type: Part-Time [25-30 hours]
Compensation: [Base Salary] + Performance Bonuses + Club Benefits
Position Summary:
The Membership Director plays a key leadership role in sustaining the prestige and vitality of The Commodore Club. This individual is responsible for identifying, attracting, and retaining a select membership base while curating an exceptional experience centered around fine dining, exclusive events, and boating/yachting culture. The ideal candidate is polished, discreet, and deeply attuned to the expectations of the members. And potential clientele.
Key Responsibilities:
Exclusive Membership Development
Cultivate a pipeline of qualified prospective members through networking, referrals, and outreach within luxury circles.
Manage the full membership inquiry process, from initial contact to application review and board presentation.
Maintain a strong presence at club events, marina gatherings, and offsite functions to engage potential members.
Member Onboarding & Orientation
Deliver a concierge-style onboarding process, including private tours, welcome packages, and personalized introductions.
Ensure seamless integration of new members into the club community, dining culture, and yachting lifestyle.
Member Retention & Engagement
Act as the primary liaison for member satisfaction, resolving concerns with discretion and attentiveness.
Collaborate with the Events and Culinary Directors to curate private dinners, regattas, and themed experiences that enhance member value.
Develop targeted communication and engagement strategies for different membership tiers.
Administrative & Strategic Duties
Maintain detailed, confidential membership records and status reports.
Analyze membership trends and retention metrics to guide strategic planning.
Work closely with marketing on member communications, branding, and digital presence aligned with club prestige.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in membership sales, luxury hospitality, or private club management.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; polished and professional demeanor.
Demonstrated success in high-touch relationship management and discreet client interaction.
Ability to balance exclusivity with approachability.
Proficient in CRM platforms, Microsoft Office, and club management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with yacht club or marina operations.
Background in luxury real estate, private club consulting, or exclusive lifestyle brands.
Event planning or fine dining experience in a high-end setting.
Working Conditions:
Flexible schedule with regular evening and weekend hours.
Attendance at flagship events and dinners is required.
Must be comfortable in both dockside and formal dining environments.
